The Hopkins County Detention Center is holding a burglary suspect. The police used surveillance video to charge Eric Harris. He was arrested Saturday morning. The stolen items from Security Self-Storage at 75 Pritchett Avenue were returned.
The governor believes the General Assembly’s current budget will make things worse for such things as foster care, juvenile justice, and Medicaid.

A measure in Frankfort would strengthen consumer protections for cryptocurrency kiosks. Criminals are increasingly exploiting them to defraud consumers. Older adults have been known to sometimes lose their entire savings. House Bill 380 requires kiosk operators to be licensed, mandates user I-D verification, and sets daily transaction limits.
Lawmakers say cuts in the state’s next two-year budget could stall gains in college completion, affordability and student debt. Educators say they are delivering a vital return to the Commonwealth.” A final version of the budget is expected after a conference committee later in the session.

The audit of the city of Madisonville is complete for another year. Teresa Jones of the Madisonville accounting firm Alford, Nance & Jones delivered the report to the city council Monday afternoon.
The man who phoned Kroger on Island Ford Road 5 times, and was told not to call again, is being charged with trespassing and harassing (her-RASS-ing) communictions. When the police noticed Daniel Plummer driving away in the lot, they made contact with him and placed him in custody. The police say Plummer had been trespassed from Kroger in October of last year.
The traffic stop of a swerving I-69 driver is what led to 3 charges. Due to the smell of marijuana in the Chrysler 300 Series vehicle, the officer chose to call-in the K-9, Bane. In a short time, the dog discovered meth and marijuana. Jonathan Wilson was transferred to the county detention center.
A bill headed to the Senate in Frankfort would modernize Kentucky’s vital records system by updating how birth and death records are issued and maintained. Senate Bill 147 allows certified copies of vital records to carry the same legal weight as original documents.
In Frankfort, a measure that would improve child care for children with disabilities by lowering costs is now headed to the Senate. House bill 6 would also allow the Cabinet for Health and Family Services to change the way it calculates child-care subsidies for low-income families. The Century Foundation says the child care industry continues to struggle with rising prices and worker shortages.
