Beloved Marilyn Rae Hartin passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on March 5, 2026, at the age of 82. Marilyn was born the youngest of 3 on December 15, 1943, in Jackson, Michigan to Arlene Keegan Moore and Alvin Moore. Her older siblings are William (Bill) Moore and Loraine Holsem. From an early age her infectious warmth was recognized when at 14 years old she was named the “Sweetheart of Spring” by famous movie and TV star Tommy Sands. After graduating from St. Mary Cathedral High School, she attended Jackson Community College for 2 years. She then married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Lewis Hartin, on October 16, 1964, in Oahu, Hawaii. Shortly after their marriage, they joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a faith that became a guiding and cherished part of their lives. Marilyn later became both a local and regional leader in the Church’s Relief Society organization, the largest religious women’s organization in the world. In her career, Marilyn prided herself first and foremost on being a homemaker. Her first priority was always to support her husband and care for her children. She and Bob are blessed with five children, whom she loved deeply: Melanie Ferrell (William Deen Ferrell), Douglas Hartin (Rebecca Hartin), Dennis Hartin (Brandy Hartin), Daniel Hartin (Rose Hartin), and Mandy Stenz (Brian Stenz). Over the years, her family grew to include 16 grandchildren and 11 great‑grandchildren, each one a source of immense joy and pride. She managed the office for Kunkle Chiropractic for several years and worked as a bookkeeper. Marilyn loved nature, particularly watching the birds and caring for her cherished cats. However, her greatest happiness was found in her family, her faith, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness, strength, and gentle spirit. She lived a life of serving others; therefore, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Marilyn’s memory perform an act of service for someone else. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and oldest son, Douglas. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on March 16, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (2355 North Main St., Madisonville, KY 42431). Visitation will also be held at the Church prior to the funeral from 11:30 AM to 2 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather, remember, and celebrate Marilyn’s life and legacy. Marilyn will be dearly missed and forever loved.
