A Madisonville man is charged with harming a man with an air pistol. Michael Wester says their argument led the man to fire several shots with the weapon. An emergency team treated Wester for his injuries from the C-O-2 powered gun. The incident occurred at a residence on South Madison Avenue.
A labor market analytics software platform is reporting that employment in Hopkins County grew by 830 jobs between 2019 and 2024. Jobs E-Q says there’s growth across healthcare, logistics, construction, and manufacturing. The Economic Development Corporation says understanding these trends helps them to know what to focus on next.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration has launched investigations to impose longer-lasting tariffs under different legal authorities.

The medical cannabis program is growing in Hopkins County. The Speakeasy Dispensary announced they will open in Nortonville at 140 North Hopkinsville Street. Another newly approved cultivator will be in near Slaughters. The governor says that the Slaughters Branch is among the newly approved, operational cultivators, helping to expand in-state production capacity.
A measure being promoted in the House of Representatives in Frankfort would allow for campaign funds to pay for security for office holders, campaigners, and their families. It’s sponsor is Wade Williams of Hopkins County.

The Green River Area Development District is up to date with the Delta Regional Authority after attending a training session last week in Memphis. The representatives received program updates and discussed ideas with other development districts. The D-R-A’s mission is to improve the quality of life for the residents of the Mississippi Delta. It’s composed of 255 counties and parishes in eight states.
