Obituary
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Gayla Oldham Peach; his son, Harold Jr. (Andrea), of Lexington, KY; his grandson, Ryan, of Atlanta, GA; sister, Betty Jean Flynn; and a nephew, Gary Flynn, both of Louisville, KY.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Mark Flynn.
A 1948 graduate of Western High School in Anderson County, Harold served in the Kentucky National Guard and later in the United States Army during the Korean conflict, stationed primarily at Fort Bliss, TX.
Following his military service, Harold worked for Monroe Calculators before embarking on a highly successful career as an entrepreneur and real estate developer. Throughout the 1970s, he and his partners developed the Fairlawn and Hilltop Manor subdivisions, Hilltop Plaza shopping center, and various industrial properties in Lawrenceburg. After relocating to Hopkins County nearly 25 years ago, his real estate ventures expanded across several states to include commercial properties and numerous Dollar General stores.
Harold was a Master Mason and Past Master of Beaver Creek Lodge, F.&A.M., in Anderson County. Active in state and local politics, he served on the Lawrenceburg City Council and was a close confidant and supporter of former Lt. Governor Thelma Stovall.
Harold also held a lifelong passion for Thoroughbreds. Gifted his first broodmare, “Rose C.,” by a business associate in the late 1950s, he went on to own several farms in Anderson County and Dawson Springs, breeding and racing horses for the rest of his life.
In accordance with his wishes, Harold requested no services. Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville was entrusted with care.
