The organizaton that encourages citizens of Hopkins County to embrace Veterans and First Responders is remembering two other groups that are often forgotten. The Patrick Rudd Project has awarded over 4-thousand dollars to MedCenter Ambulance Service, and Madisonville-Hopkins County Central Dispatch. MedCenter will use these funds to help complete their effort of placing Stop the Bleed kits throughout the school district. The Patrick Rudd Project purchased a treadmill for Central Dispatch to support their mental and physical wellness.
Some people feel that there’s a better way to manage each school district. Presently, the small ones with a few hundred students follow the same rules as the large ones with thousands of students. Senator David Givens says Senate Bill 1’s objective to make each district more efficient.
In Hopkins County, the humane society is reporting that their temporary facility is full. They have taken in 52 animals. For those looking to re-home their pets, they suggest checking out the program entitled Home to Home Animal Adoption. The Hopkins County Clerk’s Office is notifying everyone that the state has mail-out boat renewals that the clerk’s office cannot process until March 1st. This has caused a number of residents to make an unnecessary trip to the clerk’s office.
A Dawson Springs bicyclist is dead from an early morning collision with a pickup truck. The state police are now reporting that 49-year-old David Baggott was hit near the 44-hundred block of Charleston Road on Wednesday, the 18th. The K-S-P says their investigation is not over.
The Hopkins County woman charged with using counterfeit money to post bond at the county jail is facing additional charges. The Madisonville police say 39-year-old Felicia Howard was using motion picture money. This means Howard is now charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument. That’s a Class C felony in Kentucky. The jail staff quickly realized the bills were not legitimate.
The residents of Madisonville are now getting adjusted to having a zoning enforcement board. The City Council approved the ordinance in August. Mayor Cotton says the board has the power to issue fines and place liens on properties to recover cleanup or maintenance costs incurred by the city.
Residents in the Green River Area Development District needing assistance in paying their heating bill (GRADD) need to apply for LIHEAP before March 28th.
