Now that the Hopkins County Animal Shelter has a temporary shelter, full attention is being directed at the construction of the new building that will go precisely where the old one one was. Director Dustin Potenza already knows it’s going to be a costly project.
Hopkins County will have a medical cannabis dispensary in Nortonville. It will be affiliated with Lexington’s first medical marijuana dispensary known as the Speakeasy Dispensary. It will serve patients from 140 North Hopkinsville Street. The date of the opening has not yet been set.

The day-long patriotic celebration at Madisonville City Park is returning. On Saturday, May 16th, Madisonville Salutes will, for the second year in a row, honor service members, veterans, and first responders. The free event from 3 until 9 is called Madisonville Military Day. The family oriented event will feature the Traveling Vietnam Wall, the Cost of Freedom Tribute, the Traveling World War Two Memorial, and a Traveling First Responder Memorial.
