After nine months of working with Senator Mitch McConnell’s office, Madisonville will be receiving funds for a cyber crime facility. Mayor Kevin Cotton explains.
The intoxicated man who encountered the Madisonville police during the Christmas parade last month is facing grand jury charges. The police say the truck being driven by 66-year old Douglas Blair came to a stop when an officer stood in front of it. Blair was given a sobriety test and he failed.
The Madisonville police are charging the naked man found on Cardwell Avenue Monday afternoon with indecent exposure and public intoxication. The police report states James Daniels was manifestly under the influence of an unknown intoxicating substance in 28-degree weather. Daniels was taken to the detention center.
The Greenville Fire Department is reporting a fire death. Officials have identified but are not releasing the name of the man who lost his life in the Monday fire in the 14-hundred block of 1-81 South. Meanwhile, the fire investigation continues.

Washington is about to award Madisonville 2 and a half million dollars for a cybercrime training facility. It will equip law enforcement, government, and private sector personnel with the skills to investigate, prevent, and prosecute crimes committed using computers or the internet. It will also offer hands-on training in digital forensics, evidence recovery, network defense, and threat analysis. Here is Police Chief Steve Bryan.
Bryan says these facilities bridge the gap between technical criminal activities and legal prosecution, helping agencies combat evolving digital threats.
A Madisonville woman is charged with public intoxication by a non-alcoholic substance and with endangering the welfare of a minor. Cassie Buchanan was arrested at Baptist Health Urgent Care on North Main Street. Her son told the police that he felt uncomfortable being around his mother. He said she had driven them to the the urgent care location. The officers arrested Buchanan based on her condition and inability to walk or stand in a normal manner.
The state is reporting on the free summer meals program for children. For the first time last summer, it involved all 120 counties. Officials say without access to school meals, summer can be the hungriest time of year for kids across the Commonwealth. The widespread availability of SUN Meals to Go contributed to this expansion, offering flexibility for rural families to pick up meals for off-site consumption.
