The Madisonville police are reporting on a resident who failed to register as a sex offender. John Allard was found out by a resident who contacted the police. His registered address is on Beaver Creek Drive, but the police investigation found that Allard had been staying at two other addresses.
The Hopkins County Jail has a new partnership with an organization that helps victims and survivors of abuse. Sanctuary-Incorporated will provide healing services to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. Jail officials say Sanctuary’s influence will make a difference with the inmates.
During a House Oversight Committee hearing in Washington, Kentucky Congressman James Comer is making sure that it’s known that the American people are demanding accountability, including jail time, for those responsible for the taxpayer fraud in Minnesota’s social programs.
A statewide initiative to enhance carbon monoxide safety is underway. Officials say there are increased carbon monoxide risks during winter due to heating system usage. The inspections will start with schools and later extend to daycares and senior-living facilities.
In Western Kentucky, the National Weather Service needs more weather spotters. The classes begin in a couple of weeks. On social media, visit the Facebook page of the National Weather Service in Paducah.
Our junior senator says low-interest federal Economic-Injury Disaster Loans are available small businesses or private nonprofits in Kentucky if they experienced economic losses due to flooding, flash flooding, or excessive rainfall between April 2nd–15th. Rand Paul says the eligible counties include Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Webster, and McLean.
As a city grows, it’s not uncommon for traffic congestion show up in some new areas. The location of some of the newer businesses in Madisonville is often a topic of conversation. Here’s what city hall has to say about that. This is Deputy City Administrator, Brad Long.
The representative for Kentucky’s 12th House District who chairs the Committee on Natural Resources and Energy has a new job. Jim Gooch has been appointed Treasurer of the Executive Committee for the Southern States Energy Board. The board is an interstate organization that aims to foster collaboration and innovation in energy and environmental policies. The 12th House District includes Crittenden, McLean, Union, and Webster counties.
Free winter attire will be distributed in Providence. It will be on Saturday from 9 unitl noon at Sureway. Coats, gloves, and other winter wear will be distributed at no cost.
In Madisonville, the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts is preparing to host the All-District 2 Band on Saturday. The Middle school will perform at 2, followed by the high school at 3:30. Admission is free.
