This is from the Hopkins County Jail. There is a scam targeting families of incarcerated individuals. Those receiving a call are being informed that money is required for an ankle monitor before their loved one can be released. Again, this is a scam. Whatever you do, do not provide information.
One of the traditional news stories in early January is the announcement of the first baby. Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville was the site of the first birth at 4:14 PM. Xavier Jesus Moreno Suggs was delivered by Doctor Sydni Crowell. The child weighed 6 pounds 5 ounces and was 21 inches long. The mother is Esperanza Nichole Moreno Suggs.
In Washington in the House of Representatives, the head of the Oversight Committee is reporting to the county the details about the Minnesota fraud scheme. James Comer appeared on Fox Business.
Mr. Comer says he will get the sworn testimony of these state employees.
The Madisonville Police Department is accepting applications for the popular 12-week Citizen Police Academy that begins on February 3rd. The program gives community members an inside look at law enforcement operations every Tuesday from 5:30 until 8 at the regional training complex. Applications are available from M-P-D.
In Dawson Springs, the school system will shut down early today for the service for Aden McKinney who lost his life in a hunting accident. Lunch will be served before classes are dismissed at 11:30. The funeral service will be at 1 o’clock in Dawson Springs at the Beshear Funeral Home.
Free winter attire will be distributed in Providence. It will be on Saturday from 9 unitl noon at Sureway. Coats, gloves, and other winter wear will be distributed at no cost.

A Christian faith-based ministry to young people and adults who struggle with life-controlling problems is the recipient of a van. Teen Challenge in Dixon is grateful to the First Baptist Church in Dixon for their generous donation. They say the van will help them in many ways.
