A junior at Dawson Springs High School is dead from a hunting accident near Crofton. Aden McKinney lost his life early Saturday morning from a gunshot near Grapevine Road. Details are not yet available. The school superintendent says counselors and support staff will be available. The district is asking the community keep Aden McKinney’s family in their thoughts and prayers.
A Madisonville woman is facing multiple charges for abusing the 9-1-1 emergency number. The police say Alexis Massey claimed a man was threatening to kill her and her family. As soon as the officers arrived, they learned Massey and her family were not being threatended. The officers claimed Massey appeared to be under the influence. She admitted she was in possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.
The Greenville police asking for help. They are investigating several thefts from vehicles in the area of Trowbridge and Chestnut Street. On their Facebook page, they have some video of the suspects. They are hoping someone can help them make some identifictions.
Kentucky Congressman James Comer says there are massive amounts of fraud in social programs. He spoke about this on NewsNation.
Hollywood has been expressing interest in shooting films in Kentucky. Sean Mooningham of the Muhlenberg County Tourism Commission was in a recent fact-finding trip to California. He says Western Kentucky has the chance to be offered attractive incentives for film production that would create meaningful opportunities for a number of communities. Mooningham says there will be a meeting today.
The Hopkins County Fiscal Court has its first meeting of the year this morning at 10 at the Government Center at 56 North Main.

In Washington, Kentucky’s congressman representing this district is out with a report highlighting his Oversight Committee’s accomplishments. James Comer says they include exposing the Biden Autopen Presidency; investigating politically motivated discrimination within the financial system; and holding sanctuary mayors and governors accountable. Mr. Comer says his work is not done and he will continue conducting oversight hearings to ensure the federal government operates efficiently and effectively.
There’s a new law affecting smoke shops. All businesses that sell tobacco, nicotine and vapor products must be licensed by the state’s Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. There will also be routine and unannounced compliance checks and increased fines.
