The man who rode away from a police officer on a moped is facing eight charges. Richard Geary is charged with violating the city ordinance by riding a motorized vehicle on a sidewalk. When he was stopped, the officer noticed that he appeared to be under the influence of a drug. The officer could smell alcohol on Geary’s breathe and discovered a container of marijuana, along with some hydrocodone and Adderall pills. Geary is facing eight charges.
The Madisonville police are reporting on a disturbance on North Kentucky Avenue that led to an arrest. A neighbor informed the officer it sounded like Robert Pierson was assaulting a female. The investigation found that Pierson had not physically harmed her but was holding her down. He is being charged with assault.
Madisonville and Hopkins County are working together to attract more population and industry. County Judge Executive Jack Whitfield says he and a number of city and county leaders recently visited Frankfort to investigate economic opportunities.
The legislature is in the process of doing away with the state income tax. In 2018, the rate was 5 per cent. Now, it, 3 and a half percent. The final zero-tax year is not set, but there is a framework to eliminate it. The current plan allows for an annual half-percentage point reduction if conditions are met and the legislature approves the change.
The Crofton woman stopped for a turn signal violation and for her vehicle having a frame over the license plate is facing drug charges. Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say inside her vehicle, 37-year-old Cassi Baker was in possession of a white substance believed to be meth. In Baker’s home, deputies found a stolen gun, meth, and drug paraphernalia.
The Madisonville driver stopped for speeding is also being charged with driving without insurance. After the traffic stop on Grapevine Road, Bradley Branscum was transported to jail and his Nissan Pathfinder was towed away.
In Madisonville, it was a neighbor who called the police about a fight between a married couple. Mrs. Rebecca Hughes and her husband, Anthony White, denied physically assaulting each other, but both were arrested and charged with assault. Both Hughes and Whie were booked into the county jail.
All across the country, fire departments are rated in most everything they do. Here is Madisonville fire chief Jason Eli.
Eli says there are 33-thouand local fire departments and just a few thousand are Class 1. The lower the rating, the lower the insurance rates.
