The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is reporting on the Wednesday traffic fatality on Brown Road. They say Blane Metcalf lost his life in a head-on crash when his Subaru crossed the center line and hit a Chrysler. The driver of the Chrysler was injured.
2026 will be a big election year. Hopkins County Clerk Keenan Cloern addressed the fiscal court with this public announcement.
The local organization that encourages citizens to embrace local Veterans and First Responders in Honor of the late Sargeant William Patrick Rudd is involved in the Wreaths Across America program. The Patrick Rudd Project joined thousands of volunteers participating in ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and the Western Kentucky Veterans Cemetery who came together to remember and honor the men and women who served our nation. They say placing a wreath is a quiet promise that our veterans and service members are remembered.
Kentucky’s first medical cannabis dispensary is open in Beaver Dam. Tthe state’s medical cannabis law allows patients with qualifying conditions to legally purchase cannabis products with their medical cards from the company known as Farmtucky. As this point, Farmtucky is planning to expand across the state.
Free movie tickets are available for the showing of a Christian movie in Madisonville at the Golden Ticket Cinema. It’s being sponsored by Bill and Nadean Young who have purchased all of the tickets for the movie David. If you bring a non-perishable food item, the theatre will give you a 46-ounce bag of popcorn. David will be shown on Sunday and Monday, the 21st and 22nd.
The Hopkins County man arrested as the result of a warrant will be facing some additional charges. The police report states that Ralph Ager attempted to duck out when he spotted the officer in his neighborhood at 200 Dulin Street. Ager was found to be in possession of synthetic drugs and drug paraphernalia.
This morning, the governor is out with a report on the Thanksgiving Team Kentucky Food Drive.
He says over 12-thousand items were donated, and the Kentucky State Police Cram the Cruiser event had over 300-thousand pounds of food donated.
Everyone is pleased with the annual Cram the Cruiser food drive. This year, the state police collected over 300-thousand pounds of food. All 16 KSP posts participated. Since 2010, “Cram the Cruiser” has provided over three and a half million pounds of food that is used to strengthen hunger-relief networks.
The annual Community Christmas Concert in Madisonville at the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts is this evening. The M-C-C Singers will be joined by the Winds of Christmas Ensemble and the Madisonville North Chamber Choir. The program begins at 7.
Everyone is glad that the Central City Municipal Water & Sewer System is now a member of Kentucky 8-1-1. By calling 8-1-1, the system will be notified when a local request is submitted. This ensures that all Central City projects are thoroughly checked for underground water & sewer utilities. In other words, this should prevent damage to crucial infrastructure and minimize unnecessary service interruptions.
