This winter, the state will be using a new, eco-friendly road treatment method to improve tire traction in snowy conditions. They say that a de-sugared beet juice derivative is more environmentally friendly than calcium chloride. The beet juice derivative contains no sugar, making it non-sticky. Its primary function is to lower the freezing temperature, allowing salt to more effectively clear roads.
The driver who stopped in the middle of an intersection before re-entering I-69 is facing six charges. During the traffic stop, Brittany Robinson could not provide proof of insurance. Central Dispatch then notified the officer that her license was suspended and her registration had expired. Robinson was transported to the county jail.
One person has injuries following a 2-vehicle collision in Madisonville. It occurred Friday evening at City Park and McCoy Avenue. The police say the Nissan Altima being driven by 35-year-old Monica Groves of Nebo collided with the Kia Forte being driven by 64-year-old Ricky Herndon of Madisonville. Herdon complained of back and chest pains and visited the E-R.
The Madisonville police are charging a man with assault for slapping his young daughter in the face at Kroger on Island Ford Road. David Leu said has daughter was acting out and screaming but that he was wrong to slap her as hard as he did. Leu faces two charges of assault.
The choirs of James Madison Middle School and Madisonville North High School invite you to their Winter Concert at the Glema this evening. J-M-M-S will go first at 5:30. Madisonville North will take the stage at 6:30. There is no charge.
The driver of a swerving car on I-69 is facing six charges. The officer who did the traffic stop reports smelling marijuana coming from Shaphane (SHAY-fun) Stowe’s Chevrolet Malibu. He told the officer that he had a bag of marijuana inside his sweatshirt. Moments later, he sped away as the officer hopped away from the vehicle to prevent being injured. While trailing Stowe’s vehicle, a bag believed to be drugs was tossed out of the car. He then came to a stop and surrendured. The bag contained a large amount of suspected meth. Stowe was transported to the detention center.
Not many towns are named in a motion picture, but it’s happened to Madisonville. The film entitled A Christmas Pitch was shot here last year and has recently been released on the Great American Family network. Naturally, Mayor Kevin Cotton is thrilled.
The film entitled Red Right Hand also was shot in Madisonville, but it had scenes shots in Owensboro as well.
The city of Dixon is glad to report that it has once again received a Liability Grant from the Kentucky League of Cities. The city reports that the funds will help make sidewalk repairs along 1-32 West.
The Pennyrile Area Development District Board of Directors is about to hold their annual gathering that bring together local officials, community partners, and regional stakeholders. Their Christmas Luncheon includes updates from legislators. The event will be in Dawson Springs this morning (Monday) at 11:30 at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park.
