The Hopkins County Schools are initiating a program to promote a positive culture in the middle schools. Student peer leaders and adult advisers have been trained in the Sources of Strength program. It uses matters as family support, positive friends, mentors, healthy activities, and spirituality. There will be a monthly program at each school.
The folks at Mahr Park Arboretum say it will be growing. The park has received authorization to begin the Phase Three Recreational Trail Program. It will add more than half a mile of connected trails, and will improve safety by creating paths that divert from the main park drive. In the process, accessibility for walkers, runners, families, and nature lovers will be enhanced. It being funded by the Mahr Charitable Trust, local, state, and federal partners, and by community supporters.
Maybe you noticed. Maybe you didn’t. In the last three months, Madisonville has done paving work on 33 streets. Mayor Cotton says that’s above normal and he is glad to see it, but he knows what people are thinking. (Clip in audio below)
The state police are investigating a deadly crash near Central City. Dead is 31-year-old Benjamin Obannon of Bowling Green. His passenger was 30-year-old Angelica McGehee of Drakesboro. She is being treated at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital. The crash occurred on Sunday morning in the 13-thousand block of U-S 4-31.
Just as home improvements can increase the value and elegance of a home, recreational trails can also be upgraded. In Madisonville, Mahr Park Arboredum is moving into the final stage of the Recreational Trail Program. When it’s complete, there will be new features and a major expansion of the existing trail system that is already a Western Kentucky attraction. This project is being made possible in part by who have partnered with the park, and the Mahr Charitable Trust.
The new Madisonville North auxiliary gym and storm shelter open soon. The ribbon-cutting ceremony is this afternoon at 5. The event will include an open house with self-guided tours.
Hopkins County Schools Family Resource Youth Services Center coordinators are making plans to provide qualifying families with Thanksgiving or Christmas assistance. All families are welcome to attend workshops. Families requiring assistance must attend one workshop per holiday. Those unable to attend a workshop will forfeit the right to receive assistance.
In Washington, Kentucky Congressman James Comer says Oversight Committee Republicans are committed to full transparency and have now released all 65-thousand pages of documents obtained from the Epstein (EP-steen) Estate and the Department of Justice.
