The National Weather Service says we can expect above normal temperatures the rest of the week with some showers mixed in.
The senator representing four counties including Hopkins is glad he attended last week’s Arnold Ventures Housing conference in Washington, D.C. Robbie Mills says the information he gathered was especially timely, as he was working with his co-chair and staff to finalize the findings and recommendations for the 2025 Kentucky Housing Task Force.
Keeping Madisonville’s streets in the best possible condition is the job of the city. You might have noticed that a lot of paving has been going on in the last few months. Landin Gamblin is the transportation superintendent. (Clip in audio below)
The Hopkins County Health Department is reporting that 8 children have contracted whooping cough in the last few weeks. Seven of them were not vaccinated. In Lexington, there are nearly a dozen cases among school children.
The Salvation Army of Madisonville invites you their Free Community Thanksgiving Meal. It’s today from 11 until 1 at 805 McCoy Avenue. There’s no registration. It’s for everyone.
Caregivers who live in the Green River Area Development District are invited to a virtual conference. The Department for Aging and Independent Living says Coffee, Conversations, and Caregivers will support caregivers through connection, shared stories, and practical advice from experts and peers. The Hopkins County Fiscal Court meets this morning. New business includes Bus Turnaround Easements. The meeting begin at 10 o’clock at the Government Center on North Main.
Work on a new bridge in Hopkins County is beginning. It will be over the Pond River on Kentucxky 138 at Jewel City. The old bridge will remain in service until the new one goes into service.
The Webster County Sheriff’s Office says a car passenger in Sebree is facing 3 drug charges. The vehicle was stopped on US 41 North in the city. Chelsy Marlow was in possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and hydrocodone. The driver was not charged.
The Webster County Sheriff’s Office says a resident on McCoy Road in the Liberty area is facing 4 drug charges. A search warrant revealed quantities of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription pills, and drug paraphernalia in the residence of Peggy Jones.
In Hopkins County, the Career & Technology Center is celebrating ten years of career excellence. Today, (Tuesday) the venue on Patriot Drive will host a come-and-go open house with tours of each of the six departments from 4 until 6.
In Dawson Springs, the city council meets this evening at 5:30. New business includes approving a city park building and an ordinance regarding special purposes vehicles. The city hall chambers are at 200 West Arcadia Avenue.
