The Green River Area Development District is reporting that they are halfway through Medicare Part-D Open Enrollment. The last day is December 7th. They’re calling it a milestone for the justice community. The Judicial Branch describes electronic warrants as a more secure, efficient, and accountable search warrant process. Kentucky began testing the program three years ago. At least 45 states have legislation or court rules that allow for the issuance of electronic warrants based on telephonic, video, or electronic affidavits.
A new plant is responsible for several overdose deaths in the Commonwealth as well as nationwide. At this time, Kratom (CRAY-tum) is known as gas station heroin. The Cabinet for Health and Family Services says when kratom is altered to create synthetic opioids, it becomes a threat to the public’s health. Now, law enforcement and regulatory agencies are beginning to remove Kratom products from retail shelves.
The Madisonville police serving an arrest warrant on Conner Court are reporting that the woman slammed the door in their face. The officers gave Kerstain Wilson multiple chances to surrender but before being placed in the patrol car she assumed a fighting stance. Now,Wilson has an additional charge: resisting arrest.
The regular meeting of the Madisonville City Council is this afternoon at City Hall at 4:30. It will include the appointment or reappointment of nine persons to civic positions. At 5, the Tourism Advisory Board meets in the Conference Room.
An overly dark window tinting is what led to a traffic stop last week. After Trent Abbott said there were no drugs in his Lexus E-S 300, the officer located suspected meth in the center cup holder. Abbott is charged with possession of a controlled substance.

A fire alarm activation at a nursing home is a big deal. When the Madisonville Fire Department arrived at the Madisonville Manor Nursing Home on Givens Street, they noticed the smell of cigarettes in a hallway, but they never found any smoke or fire.
In Madisonville, the Salvation Army is announcing a community Thanksgiving meal. The 2-hour event will be on Tuesday, November 18th from 11 until 1 at 805- McCoy Avenue. No registration is necessary.
