Many are already aware that Madisonville’s mayor is this year’s winner of the City Official of the Year Award by the Kentucky League of Cities. That announcement was made just a few weeks ago but was featured at this week’s city council meeting by their Executive Director. Here is J-D Chaney. (Clip in audio below) Mayor Cotton was awarded one-thousand dollars that he presented to the non-profit, free-meal outreach program, Breaking Break.
The state senator representing Hopkins, Webster, Union, and Henderson counties believes the new I-69 Ohio River Bridge and the extention of I-69 into Indiana will bring unprecedented growth. Robby Mills says he is proud to have worked with former State Representative Jonathan Dixon to get the 167 million dollars in the transportation budget to fund the initial phase. Mills also says he was able to secure substantial funding for phase 2 of the bridge, and will continue to monitor possible federal funding, that could be forthcoming early next year, for the one-point-one billion needed to complete the bridge.
A healthcare enterprise that provides insurance to under-insured and uninsured populations is offering a variety of plans to residents in 108 counties for 2026. The open enrollment period for the Ambetter from WellCare of Kentucky runs until January 15th. Those enrolling by December 15th will be covered beginning January 1st. Madisonville is partnering with a marketing company. C-G-I Digital partners with businesses and municipalities to produce videos and websites that allow residents to share why they love their town. C-G-I Digital will be in town for two days.
Last year, around 150-thousand families needed assistance in paying their heating bills. Now, it’s time again to apply for the fall subsidy of the federally-funded Low-Income Home Emergency Assistance Program. LI-HEAP applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served based until December 12th. The amount received is based on income levels and the fuel-type needed. Kentucky Congressman James Comer says his Biden Autopen Presidency Report is grounded in evidence from 14 depositions and transcribed interviews with key Biden aides. He says it has more than 47 hours of testimony. Mr. Comer stressed that the Oversight Committee found alarming deficiencies in the documentation and custody of President Biden’s decision binder.
