Obituary
He was born on December 19, 1939, in Hopkins County, KY, to the late Gladys McGregor and Edward McGregor. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army stationed in Korea. He retired from the Kentucky Department of Transportation. He was a Kentucky Colonel. He was the owner of McGregor’s Orchard in Dawson Springs, KY. Howard was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Susie McGregor; brother, Russell McGregor; sisters, Phyllis McDowell, Jean Paris, and Sondra Murray; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
His survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Elaine McGregor, daughters, Charlotte (Charlie) O’Neal, Donna (Steve) Cobb, Linda McGregor, and Kim McGregor Berry (Ron) Hayes; sons, Chris (Christine) McGregor, Jim McGregor, and William (Melissa) McGregor; twenty grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Bro. Charles O’Neal officiating. Burial to follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Hanson, KY.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Gregory Lingris, Jr. Ethan Gray, Zachary McGregor, Dakota McGregor, Levi McGregor, Evan McGregor.
