Road work on a busy Madisonville road begins today and carries on until Tuesday. Crews will mill the old asphalt on East Center Street from just east of I-69 to the C-S-X Bridge. Phase two of the project will be to repave the street in that area. Delays in that area should be expected.
A new program is introducing Hopkins County students to careers in law enforcement, legal services, and related careers. The Foundations of Justice and Public Safety course is being well received. The 4-year-program is being taught by those who used to be in their particular field.
Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, there is a risk of delayed or halted November SNAP benefits. November benefits may not be loaded onto E-B-T cards on time, or at all, if the shutdown does not end. Kentucky SNAP recipients are advised to continue using their October benefits and to monitor the K-y dot g-o-v website and official D-C-B-S texts or emails for updates. The unresponsive man found at the scene of a crash on Pepper Drive Wednesday night is facing at least 9 charges. The police say 51-year-old Jason Woods was passed out in his damaged vehicle. He tested positive for cannabis, and failed the field sobriety tests. Officers located a broken pipe, marijuana, and a large amount of Gabapentin pills. Woods had no insurance, and no license plate. His driver’s license had been suspended because of a D-U-I.
In Muhlenberg County, middle school students are getting hands-on experience with over 30 career modules. The Paxton Patterson College and Career-Ready Program introduces students to real-world careers through practical learning experiences. They can now participate in activities like welding, H-VAC work, E-M-T training, bridge building and engine repair. 5th and 6th grade students also will have access to modules in travel-sized totes.
In Washington, the the Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the former president’s misuse of the autopen. Kentucky Congressman James Comer appeared on Fox News. (Clip in audio below) Mr. Comer and his committee are asking the Department of Justice to examine the involvement of key Biden aides who invoked the Fifth Amendment to hide their participation in the cover-up.
