In Dawson Springs, city park construction is underway. For the safety of everyone involved, the police are requesting that residents make an effort to please avoid the area. Construction sites are not safe for kids.
10 nonprofit organizations have formed the Kentucky Nonprofit Recovery Alliance. They say they will advocate for Medicaid reforms that prioritize patient outcomes over quantity of services, as well as establish a memorandum-of-understanding to easily refer patients within the network for the best care. A national report shows Kentucky is one of four states where the rate of opioid use disorder is one of the highest in the country.
The state is now installing automated speed enforcement devices in highway work zones. It’s hoped this initiative will inspire drivers to be more aware of their speed so as to
avoid preventable crashes. The law is named in honor of a Jared Lee Helton. He was a highway worker who lost his life in a work zone crash.

It’s early, but preparation for this year’s version of Deck the Park is underway. Some lights are already in place. For the first time, City Park will be the new home of the artificial skating rink. Just like Deck the Park, the rink will be available each evening from 4 until 9 from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day.
In responding to a shoplifting complaint, the M-P-D located the male who matched the description near the intersection of Island Fort Road and Lantaff Boulevard. The police report stated that the man appeared to be under the influence of drugs. After giving consent to search his backpack, the stolen items were located. A further search of Matthew Waddle’s things located a meth pipe, a substantial amount of meth, a pill bottle for Suboxone, and 24 units of clonazepam (klo-NAZ-uh-pam). Waddle faces 6 charges, including trafficking in a controlled substance.
A man who admitted that he had been smoking marijuana in the past hour is facing six charges. When the police contacted Andrew Gamblin at Kroger on Island Ford Road, they judged him to be under the influence of marijuana. His backpack was filled with the illegal substance. In doing a search, the officers found Gamblin to be in possession of meth and Suboxon pills.
