Charlotte J McElvain, 95, of Hanson, KY, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Ridgewood Terrace Health and Rehab in Madisonville, KY. She was born on May 4, 1930, in Evansville, IN, to the late Elmer Buchanan and Ruedell Steele Buchanan. She is also preceded in death by her husband, William E. McElvain; and two stepsisters. Charlotte made her living as a hairdresser. She was a member of the Madisonville Church of Christ as well as a former member of The Eastern Star – Chapter 53 in Hanson. In her free time, she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and sewing. She is survived by her son, Bob (Beatrice) McElvain of Hanson; two grandchildren, Lori (Brian) Adkins of Clarksville, TN, and Chris (Rachel) McElvain of Thompson Station, TN; and three great-grandchildren, Christopher McElvain, Ethan McElvain, and Evan McElvain. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home – Madisonville Chapel with Arthur Pigman officiating, accompanied by Russell Kline reading the obituary and performing the opening prayer. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Potter’s Children’s Home at 2350 Nashville Rd, Bowling Green, KY 42101.
