In Hopkins County, the county clerk wants to try something new. Keenan Cloern described her idea to the fiscal court. (Clip in audio below) The candidate workshop will be on Monday, the 13th, at the fiscal courtroom at 4:30.
In Hopkins County, the fiscal court opioid committee will help the Women’s Triangle Recovery House on South Scott Street pay for renovations and updates. The court approved paying 42-thousand dollars to Full Home Service Incorporated to do the work.
A new Facebook page in Muhlenberg County is intended to meet a need. Two, recent Muhlenberg Civic Leadership Institute graduates have created what they call the MERC. The acrostic M-E-R-C stands for Muhlenberg Employment Resource Connection. It’s intended to inform its readers about career opportunities, tips, and resources. There’s a Q-R barcode on the Facebook page of the Felix E. Martin Junior Foundation.
There’s a new mobile tool for deer and elk hunters. The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources says the app provides real-time hunting tools, planning support and essential field information to enhance hunting experiences both in the field and during preparation at home. The free app is available on the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife website.
Here’s a event you’ll want to put on your calendar. Madisonville’s Veterans Day Ceremony will be on Sunday, November 9th at 1. It will be streamed. If it’s raining, the ceremony will be at the Government Center fiscal courtroom.
The charges against an Earlington couple in the death of their daughter are being dropped. The state police say a grand jury has ruled not to issue an indictment because of a lack of evidence. Troopers are still investigating Samantha Stagner and Dayton Mason in the death of 10-month old Scarlette Witherspoon. They say the couple could still face charges.
In Hopkins County, the sheriff’s office will begin collecting Real Estate and Tangible property taxes on November 1st. The tax bills will be mailed on the 29th. The tax bills will be on a white postcard with a yellow stripe. Residents who have not received their postcard by November 7th should notify the sheriff’s office. Residents paying their bill in November will receive a discount. Incidentally, the homestead and disability exemption amount has increased to 49-thousand, 100-dollars. Many believe that the popular video game platform known as Roblox (ROW-blocks) is not safe for children, That’s why our state attorney general is taking legal action. In petitioning the Madison Circuit Court, Russell Coleman says the platform is a playground for predators and international organizations with links to terrorist organizations to distribute child sexual abuse material.
