The M-P-D is reporting the arrest of a driver who was smoking marijuana before his single vehicle accident. Christopher Devine was charged with possession of synthetic drugs, operating a vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance, and failure to have auto insurance,. Devine had a burning marijuana blunt in the ashtray, and his passenger produced some synthetic marijuana. Bianca Woodall said they had been smoking synthetic marijuana. Woodall faces similar charges to Devine.
The Madisonville police are reporting the results of search warrant executed at a residence on South Kentucky Avenue. Belinda Batchelor was found to be in possession of meth and drug paraphernalia. A digital scale was also located in Batchelor’s residence. Another search warrant executed at a residence on the same street also revealed suspected meth and drug paraphernalia. Arrested and charged with drug trafficking was Timothy Oglesby.
How do most people get the West Nile Virus? They get it from infected mosquitoes. Dr. Celine Gounder says some get flu like symptoms, others have more severe cases. (Clip in audio below) She says to reduce mosquitoes from your property, remove standing water, use repellant, and wear long sleeve shirts and pants.
The Greenville Tourism Commission is pleased to announce that a Smithsonian exhibit will soon be on display that explores the history and contributions of American Indians. It’s entitled Americans. It will be at the Thistle Cottage until November 15th, from 10 AM until midnight.
The Madisonville Fire Department is reporting on a serious gas leak. The resident at 642 Victoria Street said he broke the gas line behind his stove. After the gas was turned off, the crew began to vent the home. The homeowner was advised to get a plumber to fix the gas line, and following that, Atmos Energy would have to be contacted to restore the gas.
The officer sent to pick up a person with an active arrest warrant is charging him with two crimes. When Matthew Hull was arrested on Madison Square Drive, he was in possession of multiple marijuana buds, and a small metal pipe that contained marjuana residue.
The passenger in a black Jeep on I-69 is being charged with meth possession. The traffic stop was was brought about by the vehicle’s swerving lane changes. The drug dog Bane sniffed out some meth that belonged to Kandi Marsala. Marsala was transported to the detention center.
In Webster County, the sheriff’s office says the Property Tax Collection Season is underway. All tax bills have been mailed should be arriving shortly. Residents now have the option to pay their property taxes online. The website is: webster-k-y-sheriff dot com.
In Western Kentucky, the network of volunteers who advocate for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect, need more volunteers. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. These individuals stand up for the child. They undergo background checks, interviews, and 30 hours of training.
