The Madisonville woman who threatened to stab some juveniles is facing charges. The police say the threats were made by 31-year-old Maria Cruce at the the Pennyrile Park Apartments.
The juveniles say Cruce came outside with the knife and threatened to stab them. Apartment management told the police that Cruce had been evicted, and was not supposed to be on the property.
A phone tip to the Madisonville police is what led to the arrest of a driver who was inhaling the fumes from an air duster can. During the traffic stop, Christopher Moore had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. The Standardized Field Sobriety Test indicated he was under the influence of a volatile substance.
The Madisonville police say it took two tazer deployments to arrest the man who was screaming and fighting with officers on East Arch Street. Tyler Craig faces seven charges. He did not identify himself until he was at the county jail. The police say Craig placed himself, several officers, and the public at risk as he attempted to run from the officers to avoid arrest.
You could now say that it’s next to impossible to miss the school bus in Webster County. If the bus is missed, the student or a parent can simply call the school and request a ride on a bus that get them to school by 11 AM. The school district says this is just another way to help out students.
One of the 40 states reporting cases of West Nile Virus is Kentucky. The Green River District Health Department is urging residents to take precautions. Most cases produce light symptoms but there’s the potential for serious illness, especially with older residents. To help reduce mosquito bites, rid your property of standing water, use insect repellant, and wear loose fitting clothing.
The M-P-D has the details about the pedestrian who was hit and killed on North Main yesterday morning. Kristy Padilla of Madisonville was 37 years old. The police say she stepped in front of a Nissan Rogue that could not stop in time. Padilla was airlifted to an Evansville hospital after first visiting the local emergency room.
The Madisonville police are out with a report about the screaming woman they arrested who was under the influence of a controlled substance in a public place. Victoria Johnson was arrested at the James Madison Inn. Johnson was in possession of drug parahernalia and marijuana.
There’s a good chance that the state legislature will pass a law protecting tow truck drivers when it convenes in January. Morehead Representative Richard White says Troy’s Law would allow for wreckers to have blue flashing emergency lights. (Clip in audio below)
The city of Madisonville has laws against illegal burning. Recently, the fire department raced to the 200 block of East Noel to find a tree stump and an automobile tire on fire. The M-F-D put the fire out, told the homeowner not to do it again, and then returned to the station.
There were a number of hoops to jump through, but Owensboro residents can now raise chickens in the backyard. Before the Board of Commissioners voted, they studied how nearby cities that have passed a similar ordinance are doing. At the earliest, it’s expected to go into effect in Owensboro next month.
