The Madisonville police say they arrested the restaurant customer who was laying on the floor screaming and acting erratically. Samantha Chapman was arrested at Fazoli’s at 132 Ruby Drive. The police say she was acting as though she was manifestly under the influence of an unknown substance. Chapman was found to be in possession of suspected synthetic marijuana, a make-shift pipe, and a schedule-4 prescription pill.
Mahr Park Arboredum is in the process of qualifying for a federal trail grant. Director Ashton Robinson says the arboredum is going through an environmental approval process. (Clip in audio below)
The Kentucky Senate Majority Caucus is announcing an award for Senator Robby Mills. During the recently held Kentucky Affordable Housing Conference in Covington, he was given the Mae Street Kidd Public Service Award. The Kentucky Housing Corporation award recognizes elected officials who demonstrate exceptional leadership in advancing affordable housing opportunities.
The M-C-C Student Government Association president has been elected by his peers across the state to serve as the 2025-26 student regent on the Kentucky Community and Technical College System Board of Regents. C. Josh Givens says he wants to give back to the students, and ultimately to the K-C-T-C-S, because he believes in the mission of the system and the possibilities of quality education. Givens lives in Central City and is an Army and Kentucky National Guard veteran. At M-C-C, Givens is an integrated nursing major.
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a car versus house collision. Deputies determined that Matthew Fisher of Madisonville was intoxicated when he lost control of his Chevrolet Traverse and struck a Mortons Gap residence at 104 South Elm. The H-C-S-O reported that Fisher attempted to flee on foot, but was caught in a nearby yard. Fisher was also charged with being in possession of drug paraphernalia.
A Madisonville man is being charged with wanton endangerment for leaving his 6-month-old baby home alone while he drove his wife to work. It was also found that Juan Pedro-Lucas had a suspended license. It was a phone call that tipped off the police. The police say this was the second day in a row Pedro-Lucas had left the child at home alone.
The Dawson Springs Independent School System is seeking nominations to fill a vacancy for a parent representative on the Junior-Senion High School-Based Decision Making Council. The last day to express an interest in the position is Monday, the 22nd. Interested persons should contact the school district.
Dawson Springs is preparing for some road construction. Starting tomorrow, a stop light will be installed on South Main. Drivers should make sure to pull up to the stop box so the sensor can detect your vehicle.
There is an easy way to keep up with all of the Hopkins County teams at the middle and high schools. The director of athletics says each school now has its own sports website. Matt Bell also suggests the Eventlink app. Eventlink is one word. (Clip in audio below)
