The National Weather Service says there’s a chance of a weak-front that could produce a scattered shower or two early tomorrow.
Madisonville fire authorties are looking for the cause of a massive early morning fire on Sunday. It erupted at B & B Automotive Repair at 21-16 South Main. Two fire trucks with ladders were needed to fight the fire that engulfed the building. Most of the roof was lost.
At the present time, Hanson residents will continue to use the city’s waste facility located off I-69. The city commission has voted down, mandatory garbage service. Officials say many residents argued the fee would be a financial burden, especially for those on fixed incomes. The vote also indicates that Hanson residents believe that dropping off their garbage at a convenience center, or contracting private pickup, is the best system. The proposed plan would have charged 40-dollars a month for weekly pickup.
In Webster County, the man who ran from a sheriff’s deputy and a Providence police officer is facing charges. Deputies were attempting to serve a parole violation warrant to 49-year-old Jason Ashby at his home on 2nd street in Clay. The escape attempt ended after deputies released a K-9 in the area of West Elm Street. Ashby is now charged with evading the police and resisting arrest.
In Frankfort, the governor and lawmakers say economic growth in the Commonwealth is breaking records. Here is Governor Beshear. (Clip in audio below) Mr. Beshear says nearly 23-hundred Kentuckians will receive skills training thanks to support provided through the Bluegrass State Skills Corporation.
Due to the holiday, the Madisonville City Council meets this afternoon. The agenda includes the 2nd reading of an ordinance amending property taxes. The city hall meeting begins at 4:30.
When the Hopkins County Fiscal Court meets this morning at 10, new business will include the first reading of an ordinance that amends C-D-L Licenses. The fiscal court meets at the Government Center at 56 North Main Street.
A public charity in Dixon that provides education and training to improve parenting, leadership, and communication skills, is joining forces with the Webster County Schools to provide an afterschool program for students in grades 4 to 6. The mission of the Beacon of West Kentucky is to empower individuals and groups to create positive changes in families and communities. Funding was obtained through a Kentucky Opioid Abatement grant to employ a Teacher Leader and assistants at each elementary school.
Kentucky Congressman James Comer is expecting this to be a busy month for the House Oversight Committee. On Fox News he says that crime in the nation’s capitol is still raging. He says truthful residents are seeing no reduction in crime. (Clip in audio below)
