Hugh Wayne Offutt, 83

Hugh “HW” Wayne Offutt, 83, of Earlington, KY passed away on August 26, 2025 at his daughter’s home in New Albany, IN.

He was born on April 26, 1942 in Millstone, KY to the late John William and Lelia Offutt

Hugh was of the Catholic faith. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Army. He had worked as an Engineer for CSX Railroad and owned the Triple O Ranch.

He graduated from Earlington High School in 1960 where he played basketball. Hugh loved UK basketball, enjoyed genealogy, was a member of American Legion Post 6, and Sons of the American Revolution.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters Carolyn Sadler and Jenny Villines and his brothers William Offutt and James Offutt

Hugh is survived by his children Melissa Offutt of New Albany, IN and Michael Offutt of Indianapolis, IN; two grandchildren, Olyvia Offutt and Jacob Offutt West; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 1:00PM at Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington, KY with Father David Kennedy officiating and burial with military rites  performed by the United States Army 101st Airborne and the Hopkins County Honor Guard at Grapevine Cemetery in Madisonville, KY.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 11:00AM until service time at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Michael Offutt, Otto Fulkerson, John Sadler, Seth Villines, Cody Fulkerson, and Cameron Sharber.
