A Madisonville woman is facing charges for assault during a domestic violence incident. The police say 33-year-old Ashley Poindexter stabbed a man in the arm late Saturday night on West Lake Street. The victim phoned the police. Even though E-M-A described it as a deep laceration, he chose not to receive stitches.
The Madisonville police say the operator of a scooter who appeared to under the influence of a controlled substance is jailed on four charges. Marshall Gibson was arrested in the 300 block of Seminary Street. A call to the M-P-D alerted them to the situation. The police say Gibson had two prior convictions of possession of synthetic drugs. He was also found to be in possession of synthetic drugs, a meth pipe, and pills.
This is the first year for the school superintendent in Hopkins County. Dr. Damon Fleming has a background in education and law enforcement. (Clip in audio below)
The state police are warning the public about a spam message. They have received several messages about a false report involving the retesting of driver skills for all Kentuckians next year. The K-S-P says for accurate information on driver testing and driver licensing, visit their Facebook page.

The man who assaulted his girlfriend and initially got away, is now at the Hopkins County Jail. The victim says their argument about not getting money to buy drugs is what led David Arwine to assault her. This included knocking out a tooth. There were four witnesses to the incident at their residence on South Madison Avenue. One shot video. One day later, another officer located and arrested Arwine. He faces three charges.
In Madisonville, the Senior Center of Hopkins County says there are a number of reasons why seniors need to come by see what’s going on at the center. Sharon Smith says they may be surprised. (Clip in audio below) The Senior Citizen Center is at 200 North Main Street.
The Kentucky Attorney General is leading a coalition of 21 attorneys-general against a dangerous and unregulated drug often referred to as “designer Xanax.” Russell Coleman says bromazolam (bro-MAZ-uh-lamb) has been linked to nearly 50 deaths in the Commonwealth. Coleman says , illicitly manufactured bromazolam lacks any quality controls, making it particularly lethal for unsuspecting users.
The Green River Area Development District is planning its first-ever statewide Caregiver Conference. The Department for Aging and Independent Living says the virtual event will be in November.
