The city of Madisonville is the first to say that the traffic flow to the new shopping center will be improved. In the meantime, several changes are now in effect to address the situation. (Clip in audio below)
The Madisonville driver who had a loud exhaust and was tossing trash out the window is facing a couple of charges. During the traffic stop on East McLaughlin Avenue, the drug dog Drax sniffed out some synthetic drugs belonging to Zachary McKinney. She also had two used meth pipes in her possession. Central Dispatch notified the officer that this is the 2nd offense for McKinney.
In Webster County, the sheriff’s office is reporting the recovery of a stolen vehicle. Arrested in Poole was was Jacob Andrews. The sheriff’s office says the vehicle had been stolen from Henderson County. Andrews was transported to the detention center. He is facing a bench warrant out of Union County as well as a charge of receiving stolen property.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says this is the time of year for a number of projects. This week in Hopkins County, crews will be doing slide repair on KY 254, mowing on seven state highways, and pothol patching on a number of routes. All this week, there will be northbound lane restrictions on I-69.
Law enforcement is Western Kentucky is searching for a Webster County woman who has been missing since Saturday. All they know is that 21-year-old Bailey Smith walked away from the Teen Challenge Women’s Center on Burnt Mill Road in Dixon. She left without her phone, money or required medication. If you know the whereabouts of Bailey Smith, please contact authorities.
In Frankfort, the man representing Hopkins County in the House expects the General Assembly to reduce the income tax rate to 3 and a half percent during the General Assembly that begins in January. Representative Wade Williams also serves as the President of the Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation. He also says the session will see legislation to invest 3-billion dolllars in water and sewer upgrades across the state.
In Dawson Springs, the city council meets this afternoon at 5:30. New business includes the first reading of the 3-year budget, and special purpose vehicles .
Central City is mourning the passing of the retired chief of police. Many are saying that Brent Roberson had an impact on many as he served the community and his family faithfully.
In Washington, newly unearthed emails show the Biden White House canceled his visit to a defense shipyard over concerns about the number of steps he’d have to take.
