The Madisonville police have the story about an intoxicated man’s failed attempt at stealing a bottle of Gatorade. The police say Lucas Weikel was arrested because he could endanger himself, as well as others and their property. The incident occurred at the Huck’s gas station on South Main.
The United Way of the Coalfield has a new award. The Executive Director says the Community Impact Award is a way to honor a giving person who has been a sourch of strength to community. The state is making another effort to reduce highway work zone deaths. It utilizes automated speed enforcement. Officers will issue civil citations based on images from speed-detection devices. The tickets range from 500 to 10-thousand dollars.
The Green River Area Development District says the Department for Aging and Independent Living is planning its first-ever statewide Caregiver Conference. To help plan the conference, they’re sending out a questionnaire in the hopes that paid caregivers, family members, and neighbors will supply information helpful to the project. The Hopkins County Genealogical Society will present a free program tomorrow morning on Nazi radio. It involved reducing the cost of a radio in Germany so that more people could listen. The program begins at 10 on Saturday morning at the Government Center.
A woman observed to be under the influence of a controlled substance is being charged with public intoxication. The M-P-D report described Josie Crafton as having a dazed appearance when she was seen at the Hopkins County Fair. Crafton told the officer that she did not know how she got there. At that point,she was arrested and transported to the county jail.
The driver of a car that failed to use a turn signal is facing four charges. The M-P-D says the registration tag on Cari Salmons’ Dodge Dakota had expired. Salmons’ insurance police had also expired. After telling the officer that there was no marijuana in the vehicle, the officer located a suspected marijuana joint. After using CourtNet, it was discovered that Salmons had a prior conviction for failing to maintain auto insurance.
There are new rules in regards to the way students can use their phones. State Representative Kevin Jackson from Bowling Green says the new rules have a lot of support. (Clip in audio below)
The Greenville Fire Department has a new website. The G-F-D says it’s intended to distribute information, educate, communicate and provide a quicker and easier process for things such as requests for events, training and applications. It’s greenville-k-y-f-d dot com.
Two of the nine finalists in the state I-Voted Sticker Contest are from Hopkins County. The Hopkins County students are Jaidin Adkins and Rylan Bowman. The winner will be determined by the votes cast at the state fair that runs through the 24th.
