A call about a trespasser is what led to the arrest of a Madisonville man. The complainant told the police that Michael Boldry was banging on the door of a McCoy Avenue residence trying to get in. The police determined that Boldry was intoxicated. As he was being handcuffed, he told the police he had been taking meth.
Calls to the Madisonville police about a reckless driver are what led to her arrest. Shaniece Tandy was arrested at the McDonalds restaurant on North Main. The officer reported the strong smell of alcohol in her Ford Crown Victoria. Her driver’s license listed her address as being in Guthrie-Kentucky even though she has not lived there for two months.
The state is continuing to enjoy record economic growth. Here’s Governor Beshear. (Clip in audio below) He says more than 62-thousand jobs have been created in recent years.
The U.S. Geological Survey is researching the light earthquake in the Tri-state late Friday night. No damage has been reported. It was felt in parts of Henderson, while Cynthiana-Indiana had the strongest movement. Officials say even minor quakes serve as reminders to be prepared for larger seismic events.
In Madisonville, the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts says their lineup for the upcoming school year includes six events for students. Performances are underwritten with financial support from the Hopkins County Schools. Public schools, private schools, and home schools in the region are welcome to attend.
The decision to house Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees at the Hopkins County Jail is turning out to be a good one. Jailer Mike Lewis says it began in March and now has been at or near capacity for over two months. He says the program is also very favorable for the county monetarily. (Clip in audio below)
The police have evidence to prove that a Madisonville man was the primary aggressor in a domestic altercation with his live-in girlfriend. They say surveillance footage clearly shows Travis Offutt assaulting her. Offutt claims he did nothing physical. The incident occurred at their residence on Boggess Boulevard.
There’s talk in Washington of privatizing the the Tennessee Valley Authority. It’s proponents suggest that privatized operations could lead to increased efficiency and better performance through competition and market forces. It would be part of the broader agenda to promote energy dominance. Advocates say privatization would result in higher costs, and instability for thousands of workers.
A new website is intended to help prevent scams. It’s described as a one-stop resource on how to spot scams, ways to report them, and resources for recovering what was lost should someone fall victim. The website uses awareness, reporting, and education to equip residents with the tools to do the job. The web address is stop-scams dot k-y dot G-O-V.
