The Madisonville Police are reporting the arrest of a man they had to chase. 42-year-old Ronald Kennedy sped away on his A-T-V when he spotted them at the intersection of Hickory Hollow Drive and Grapevine Road. The M-P-D say Kennedy eventually went into the yards of residents off John Hall Road and entered the woods. Not long after that, the police used a k-9 to locate him.
The Madisonville police say the man who hit a pedestrian with his bicycle was under the influence of a controlled substance. Tyler Morgan is facing four charges. He was arrested last weekend. Morgan was eventually found walking along East Lake Street near McCoy Avenue.
Hopkins County is working to allow special purpose vehicles on the road. Here is Sheriff Matt Sanderson. (Clip in audio below) Sanderson says the Inspection fee will be 25-dollars.
The Pennyrile Area Development District says some Medicare beneficiaries on a fixed income may qualify for programs that help pay Medicare premiums and prescription drug costs. They suggest attending a meeting at the Senior Center on Wednesday, the 30th from 9 until 11. Limited appointments are available.
An organization that advocates for child victims entangled by themselves in the child welfare system is hoping you can help support their annual fundraiser. The Green River Area Development District is planning ahead. They held a Flood Mitigation Workshop. It involved the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kentucky Division of Water, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service. Each group shared strategies for managing a flood.
A Hopkins County man is one of the Farmer of the Year finalists. Mark Metcalfe will be at the Kentucky Farm Bureau ham breakfast at the state fair on August 21st. The winner will be announced on Octpber 2nd, and then recognized during the organization’s annual meeting in December. Kentucky Farm Bureau says the annual program recognizes outstanding agricultural operations and those who lead it.
Kentucky Youth Advocates and Bloom Kentucky say childhood trauma is costing our state millions each year. Hosparus Health Western Kentucky says volunteers play a vital role in helping families navigate illness with dignity and support.
