The water system issues in Webster County are still being addressed. A Boil Water Advisory remains in effect. Water customers are being requested to conserve water when possible. Emergency Management is reporting that crews are isolating valves and redirecting water flow. Customers may experience temporary water loss or fluctuations in service.
President Trump’s historic Big Beautiful Bill is now the law. Congressman James Comer shared his thoughts on Fox News. (Clip in audio below)
In Central City, an old pool supply store is now the site of a non-profit to help the homeless. The leaders of Breakthrough Base of Muhlenberg County say they are overwhelmed with the amount of community support. Plans now call for the opening of a resource center. Among other things, the center will offer a place to do laundry, take a shower, find affordable housing, or get career coaching. To get involved, persons can message the Breakthrough Base of Muhlenberg County.
The Friends of Muhlenberg County Cemeteries are promoting a self-guided cemetery walking tour. It include 7 cemeteries. Brochures include biographies to help the visitors learn about some of the the county’s most noted citizens. The self-guided cemetery walking tour is described as a wonderful way to get out in nature and learn about Muhlenberg’s history. This project is being made possible by the Felix E. Martin Jr. Foundation, and by Capitol Signs.
Hopkins is one of the six counties selected to share 7-million dollars to spur investment and job creation. Gov. Andy Beshear says the objective is to make sure these counties have the tools and support needed to secure major economic development projects that can create jobs and opportunities. He says the Hopkins County Fiscal Court and the Madisonville-Hopkins County Economic Development fouCorporation will be completing a due diligence study on an industrial site,with the E-D-C providing a 15 percent match to the state funds.
Just as Madisonville is striving to attract new businesses and more population, the need for housing is becoming more of an issue. City Administrator Rob Saint says this is not an overlooked point. He knows that without attractive places to live, new businesses and industries will look elsewhere. (Clip in audio below)
The Madisonville police are crediting an arrest to the Law Enforcement Information Network of Kentucky and the National Crime Information Center. Trinity Panning was a passenger in blue Volkswagen that was stopped on East Center Street. Panning had two active Missouri arrest warrants. The Missouri authorities informed the M-P-D that they will extradite.
Media reports indicate that a water tank will be brought to northern Caldwell County. It will be located at the Sugar Creek Baptist Church at 37-01 Highway 2-93 North. Residents may bring their own containers to fill for household use, not including drinking. The church also has a bottled water “Donation and Pickup” for drinking water. Donations are appreciated. Residents are limited to one case per household.
