The Madisonville police have the details about the intoxicated driver who left the scene of the accident. In no time, Anthony White was taken into custody. He faces four charges. During the traffic stop at West Arch and Dempsey, he was given a sobriety test before the was transported to the county jail. The police report states that the odor of alcohol was coming from Whites’s Toyota Corolla. He was also in possession of marijuana.
In Madisonville, a reckless driver who was unable to provide proof of insurance is facing some other charges. During the traffic stop on West Noel, the K-9 Loki discovered the presence of illegal narcotics in Daniel Foster’s Dodge Van. Synthetic drugs were located in his pocket. Central Dispatch notified the officer that Foster has two prior guilty verdicts regarding synthetic drugs.
A number of new laws are going into effect in our state. Not surprisingly, Frankfort reporter Keith West says several of them are directed at young people. (Clip in audio below)
In the interest of public safety, there’s an effort in Dawson Springs to know the location of all of the storm shelters. The fire chief is requesting that anyone who has installed a storm shelter call the county Geographic Information System and report it. Officials say knowing this will improve search and rescue efforts. A simple phone call to the office number of the fire department would suffice.
The big news in Hopkins County is that a new industry is coming to town. E. Hoffman Plastics is locating its first American plant in Madisonville. Bill Rudd is formerly with the Economic Development Corporation. (Clip in audio below) Hoffman Plastics will construct a 100-thousand square-foot building for their machinery, automation and molds. The Canadian plastics packaging producer will create 164 jobs.
A traffic stop is common for drivers not using their headlights at night. The M-P-D says when Zachary Dye was stopped on East Center, he was attempting to conceal an empty Busch Light can. He told the officer that he had consumed one beverage and was about to have another one. Dye faces four charges.
School officials in Webster County are talking about the new restrictions on how school-district personnel are allowed to communicate using digital platforms. There are many layers to this new law, and the district is working to provide clarity to the families and staff. Most login issues for the Parent-Student-Square app are due to a problem with the phone number, or email address in Infinite Campus. To get accurate information, continue to monitor the school district social media.
In Muhlenberg County, the Felix E. Martin Junior Hall will be the site of the Louisville Orchestra Concert on July 10th. Tickets are free. The event is part of the orchestra’s Commonwealth Tour. The tickets are free but they need to reserved in advance.
