The Hopkins County Schools have two new assistant superintendents. Both Dr. Ann Love and Jason Clark have been in education for 27-years. Clark’s resume includes stints as principal of Browning Springs Middle School, and the assessment coordinator for Hopkins County. Love has worked in human resources and was the principal at Grapevine Elementary.
Webster County needs school bus drivers. Anyone thinking about being one should take advantage of the Test Drive a Bus event. It will be at the high school parking lot on Saturday, the 14th, from 9 unitil 1.
The I-69 driver who was stopped by the police was likely not surprised that the police did a traffic stop a few days ago. The officer said that James Ross had been following a vehicle too closely, his lane changes were dangerous, and his vehicle had the smell of alcohol and marijuana. He now faces three charges. Ross said he had been at an event and had probably had too much beer. The sobriety test verified it.
Kentucky’s latest drug overdose fatality figures shows a drop in deaths. A Louisville-based nonprofit says her organization has distributed Narcan units and provided training to farmers, so they’re equipped to act as first responders. Ashley Smith is with Black Soil Kentucky. (Clip in audio below)
Tomorrow is the 2nd annual Hopkins County Humane Society Run for the Paws 5-K. Event and registration details are on the Facebook page. It’s a 5-K Run-Walk and Kids Fun Run. There will be prizes in six categories for men and woman, and boys and girls.
Sometimes a cop spots a person he knows has an arrest warrant. On Tuesday afternoon, the officer located Gregory Ezell at the Chateau Mobile Home Park on South Main. In no time, Ezell was arrested.
In Madisonville, the traffic stop of a vehicle with excessive window tinting also produced three other charges against the driver. A k-9 free sniff of Jason Laureano’s Buick LaCrosse produced marijuana, suspected meth, and a mini-bottle of Fireball.
Webster County Emergency Management is promoting a pop-up drivers license processing event. It will include the required vision test that is now required to renew a license. The event will be at the Webster County Library on Route 132 East in Dixon. Appointments are being taken for June 24th.
In Earlington, city officials are describing the first week of the Neighbor to Neighbor initiative as successful. They say dedicated volunteers cleaned three lots, including the yard of a single father with a broken mower. They say all who are interested in participating need to sign up at City Hall. Neighbor to Neighbor is each Saturday through July.
The tourism industry in our state is breaking records. Governor Andy Beshear say last year was the best year on record. More than 14 billion dollars were generated that supported over 97-thousand jobs. (Clip in audio below) Last year, more than 80 million travelers visited the Bluegrass State. That’s three straight record years.
