The Madisonville Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation is hoping many will take the time to complete the annual Wage & Workforce Survey. The Kentucky Association of Manufacturers would like to see manufacturers, logistics-distributors, and Kentucky energy companies take part in the confidential survey. The say their participation supports one of the state’s most valuable resources for understanding wages, benefits, and workforce trends.
A traffic stop that began when an officer noticed that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt led him to make an arrest due to drug violations. The officer noticed that Natalie Gibson had many of the characteristics of a person under the influence of drugs. She admitted that she was in rehab. A drug dog sniffed out synthetic drugs. Gibson was also in possession of some drug paraphernalia.
Congressman James Comer and his House Oversight Committee are involved in learning more about President Biden’s mental capacity in the final days of his term. Mr. Comer was interviewed on Fox News. (Clip in audio below)
In Frankfort, the state Attorney General is announcing a legal victory. Russell Coleman says Kentucky’s pro-life laws have been successfully defended in an A-C-L-U legal challenge. In the decision, the opponents voluntarily dismissed their case in Jefferson Circuit Court. Coleman is grateful to the state’s team who continues to uphold the law that was passed by the General Assembly.
All too often in recent years, Dawson Springs has been associated with tornadoes and flooding. Maybe that’s why the Independent School district is so amazed by the 4 by 800 relay team who took the Class 1-A state championship in Lexington last week. Montgomery Johnston, Sean Stallins, Deacon Dever, and Easton Bourland have been contacted by several college coaches. Track Coach Dylan Simpson is a former Panther and collegiate athlete.
The Hopkins County Fiscal Court meets this morning. New Business includes a resolution that would allow ARPA funds to be utilized by the Dawson Springs Fire Department. The meeting begins at 10 at the Government Center at 56 North Main.
Hopkins County’s representative in the State house says Medicaid is the second highest account in the state budget. Wade Williams also says it’s on a trajectory to bankrupt the state. He has been tasked with being the vice chairman of the Medicaid budget review committee. (Clip in audio below)

They say her passion for economic development and her commitment to advancing Madisonville and Hopkins County are making a lasting impact, not just in Kentucky, but throughout the South.
Some new city signs in Dixon are designed to build pride in our country. It would have been nice if they had been in place for Memorial Day, but that didn’t happen. The signs recognize our country’s armed forces.
