The M-P-D is reporting on the 6-year-old that was found by a resident. The mother is facing a wanton endangerment charge. The child told the police that no one was home with him and his two year old brother, and that he was attempting to walk to his grandmother’s house. At the Sunoco on South Main Street Thursday morning, 21-year-old Britanny Emerson told Child Protective services that the reason she had not changed the 2-year-old’s diaper was that she was stressed while trying to find her 6-year-old.
A Madisonville police report states that a woman who was manifestly under the influence of an unknown substance frightened a neighborhood resident by entering his home and waking him up. The victim says Gabrielle Caldwell was holding a sharp object, but he was able to get outside and phone the police. The police are charging Caldwell with burglary.
When it comes to avoiding college debt, Kentucky has the answer. The Kentucky Community and Technical College System leads the way in affordable,debt-free education. The number of graduates that leave school without student load debt is 72 percent. In fact, by a wide margin, the K-C-T-C-S has the highest percentage of public higher education graduates without student loan debt.

Madisonville has a new distinctive quality. The Tourist and Convention Commission is reporting that the Woman’s Club of Madisonville has made the city the unofficial painted bike capital of Kentucky. They say there are 19 two-wheelers in the city.
Hopkins County health officials say their measles testing has proved negative. They say if there had been a confirmed case of measles or any other communicable disease, the public would have been notified. Measles cases are on the rise in our country. It’s described as a contagious virus.
The police say some arrests go off without a hitch. The M-P-D phone rang a few days ago. The Tennessee Apprehenson Enforcement Unit informed them that a fugitive was known to be at a Madisonville residence on Woodlawn Drive. Upon arrival, Tyler Stafford was informed that the Montgomery County-Tennessee Sheriff’s Office had a warrant for his arrest. Then, Stafford was placed under arrest.
After receiving a phone call about an impaired driver, the officer arrived at Madison and McLaughlin to see the driver enter the wrong lane and almost collide with another vehicle. Cindy Stafanoff (STAFF-uh-noff) told the officer that she would submit to a sobriety test. After failing it, the officer asked her why she didn’t say she had been using cannabis. Stafanoff was charged with an improper turn and with operating a vehicle under the influence of cannabis.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is reporting a text scam. Someone has been impersonating the transportation cabinet. Residents who receive a text claiming to have originated from the K-T-C should not click on it. If it’s too late and you have clicked on a fake text and provided personal information, contact your bank right away.
The Tri-State Food Bank will be distributing food in White Plains tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. Qualifying residents are welcome to attend beginning at 10. The location will be 106 Northeast Street. When the supplies are gone, the event will be over.
