Alice Dean Thomas Redden, a cherished member of her community and a beloved matriarch of her family, passed away peacefully at her residence on May 10, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on July 5, 1929, in Dawson Springs, Kentucky, Alice worked tirelessly throughout her life, serving as a secretary for Redden Excavating for many years and later as a licensed practical nurse in several nursing facilities. Her devotion to the well-being of others paved the way for countless individuals to receive compassionate care during their times of need.
A woman of deep faith, Alice was a dedicated member of Landmark Apostolic Church since 1946. She actively participated in the Ladies Auxiliary, demonstrating her commitment to her church family that she so deeply loved. Alice’s gentle spirit and unwavering kindness touched the lives of many, embodying a strength that inspired those around her. A thousand words could not paint the picture of how truly amazing and irreplaceable Alice was.
Alice found joy in simple pleasures, engaging in hobbies such as cooking, sewing, quilting, crocheting, and needlepointing. Her passion for these crafts allowed her to create not only beautiful items but also lasting memories with her loved ones. She relished serving her church and contributing to her community, reflecting her generous heart.
She leaves behind her daughter, Ruby Caudill of Dawson Springs, KY; two sons, Joe Redden and his wife, Kathy of Dawson Springs, KY, and Roger Redden and his wife, Tammie of Madisonville, KY; five grandchildren, Tana Wadlington and her husband, Barry, Jason Gray and his wife, Lori, Dr. Holly Divine and her husband, Kevin, Dr. Amy Argo and her husband, Ken, and Austin Redden and his wife, Hallie; fourteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandson.
Alice joins her beloved husband of 77 years, Allen Ray Redden, who departed this life on July 9, 2023. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Mary Alice Darnell Thomas, two grandsons, Thomas Redden in 2011 and John Gray in 2020, as well as her sisters, Opal Goad Ausenbaugh and Olan Lisanby, and her brothers, Woodrow, Walter, Hoyt, and Lester Thomas. Additionally, she is survived by several special in-laws, nieces, and nephews who cherished her dearly.
Visitation for Alice Dean Redden will be Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at 1:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY with Rev. Rusty Akers, Rev. Holly Divine and Rev. Kathy Redden officiating. Burial will follow at Piney Grove Cemetery in Caldwell County.
Active Pallbearers will be Ken Argo, Kevin Divine, Jason Gray, Josh Gray, Joe Gray and Austin Redden. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Goad, Phillip Thomas, Paul Pool, Wayne Redden, Monroe Cluck and Wayne Dismang.
The Family would like to express a special thank you to Pennyrile Hospice nurses as well as all who had a part in taking such excellent care of Alice during her illness. May God richly bless you all.
