Two persons discovered at Grapevine Park after hours are now incarcerated. Both refused to give the officer their names. Paul Lee resisted arrest and attempted to flee on foot with several knives, but was tackled. One police officer was kicked in the face. Lee is charged with 7 crimes, including possession of meth, and giving an officer a false name. Gabrielle Lee faces 4 charges, including possession of meth.
The Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Department is reporting that a man with multiple arrest warrants is in custody. Tyree Pettigrew was a passenger in the Ford F150 being driven by Claude Hampton last week. Pettigrew is facing six charges, including Resisting Arrest and Possession of Marijuana. Hampton faces 8 charges. They include fleeing from the police and hindering prosecution. The incident occurred on State Route 181 last week.
Police canines play an important role with the Madisonville police. Cash is the comfort dog. The Patrick Rudd Project paid 10-thousand dollars to put Cash into service. His handler is Major Justin Jones. (Clip in audio below) The M-P-D also has 4 other dogs trained to assist officers fighting crime.
In Webster County, Dixon will be the site of today’s Health Fair. There will be lots of information, including free hearing and eye exams. It’s from 9 until 11 at 80 North College Street.
The Webster County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that the missing 15-year-old has been found. They say the community had been looking for Autumn Alexander who was reported missing from her Providence home on Saturday.
Our local college is known for training students in professions that are available locally and in the region. The E-M-S Paramedic Program at Madisonville Community College is having good success. It’s director is Jacklyn Rideout. (Clip in audio below) Rideout says for years, there’s been a shortage of paramedics. (Clip in audio below)
In Dawson Springs, the city council will meet this afternoon and not meet on the 20th. It begins at 5:30 in the Council Chambers. New business includes the removal agreement for the Poplar Street Bridge.
The Greenville Police Department has a new officer. Stepping up to replace Officer Devin Weatherford is Braden Riley.
The state police are involved in another Click It or Ticket campaign. They say that wearing a seat belt is the simplest, most effective way to protect yourself and the people you care about. Seat belts reduce the risk of death by 45 percent for front-seat occupants and by 60 percent for those in larger vehicles.
The Glema Center has a free concert. This evening at 5:45 and 7, the bands of James Madison Middle School and Madisonville North Hopkins High School will present their spring concerts.
