The mayor of Madisonville is glad to have the largest retail development in the state for the last two years. Cotton also says that traffic is going to be a challenge, but that the state will be working with the city to remedy that matter. He says the new shopping center will attract more out of town shoppers, and that means it will have a significant economic impact.

The contributors of the new statue include the City of Madisonville, the Hopkins County Fiscal Court, and American Legion Post 6. Union Statue Committee member Bill McReynolds is quoted in the media as saying that the statue will add some tourism appeal.
