The Madisonville Police Department and Central Dispatch are proudly announcing three new graduates of the state telecommunicators academy. Graduating from the 4-week institute in Richmond are Andrea Mitchell, Houston Hanvy, and Melissa Reynolds.
The ongoing interstate rehab project in Hopkins County will include a temporary closure tomorrow (on Saturday) on the southbound ramp from U.S. 41 to I-69. The ramp is expected to re-open around 3 o’clock. The project is part of the effort to rehabilitate a 4-mile section from KY 70 to KY 26-57, also known as the Fowler Road overpass.
Our state attorney general is calling on the U-S Senate to block California’s attempt to push its green agenda on the nation’s automotive industry. Russell Coleman’s letter has been signed by 26 attorneys general. He has encouraged Senators to use the Congressional Review Act to rollback an E-P-A rule that would increase the costs of Kentuckians’ cars and trucks.
A modern classic will be performed at the Glema by an ensemble comprised of the M-C-C Singers, the Madisonville Community Chorus, and the Madisonville North Chamber Choir. John Rutter’s ‘Requiem’ will be performed this evening at 7. Admission will be free.
The Hopkins County Disaster Recovery Center offers support to flood victims. FEMA representatives will explain the assistance programs, and how to apply for them. The center at 605 East Arch Street can also help connect survivors with recovery resources. On hand are representatives from the Kentucky Office of Unemployment Insurance, the Kentucky Department of Insurance and the U.S. Small Business Administration. The center is open Monday through Saturday from 9 to 7, and Sundays from 1 until 7. You do not need to visit a center to apply with FEMA. They suggest using the FEMA mobile app.
A gift to the police department is a gift to the community. The M-P-D is grateful to Flint Garrigan. As part of his Eagle Scout project, he designed and built custom K-9 training boxes to help enhance the skills and readiness of the dogs. The department says these training tools will make a lasting impact on the department. They say thanks again to Flint Garrigan.
A new Kentucky law will expand access to advanced veterinary and medicine programs at state universities. Aaron Thompson is the president of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education.

Webster County Emergency Management says case workers with Catholic Charities and the Red Cross could be calling, or texting those impacted by flooding.
A bridge in Webster County is closed due to flood waters. Emergency Management says it’s located on Slaughters-Elmwood Road near U-S 41.
