A Madisonville man is facing an assault charge. The girlfriend of Dustin Austin reported to the police that an argument escalated into violence on Sunday morning at their residence on Bernard Drive. The police report listed the visible injuries sustained by Austin’s girlfriend.
The Fire Academy of Kentucky is operating in Greenville. 27 recruits from 15 fire departments are coming together as one team. Recruits were given a behind the scenes look at Muhlenberg County 9-1-1. Madisonville Community College says each person has the potential to earn 24 college credits upon completion of the Academy. The facility is at 46-88 KY-181 North.
More than half of the adults in our state now have a college degree, certificate or industry certification. Experts say the state must expand its educated workforce to meet future demand. Aaron Thompson of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education says educational attainment is critical for jumpstarting career advancement or finding a higher-paying job.

These are the early days of the Kentucky Sports Factory, and Madisonville Mayor Kevin Cotton could not be more pleased with the impact it’s having on the community. This past weekend, 50 teams participated in a basketball tournament that drew 2-thousand people.

A Crofton man is headed to federal prison for 6 and a half years for illegally possessing a firearm after having been convicted of a felony offense. The case of 27-year-old Earl Ray Cook Junior is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods. That’s a program that brings together all levels of law enforcement to reduce violent crime and gun violence.
The smell of gas is what sent the Madisonville Fire Department to a residence on Pepper Drive on Sunday night. The gas moniters determined that there was no leak. They were smelling a dead animal.
