Hopkins County is making a new effort at addressing nuisance violations. County Attorney Lee Riddle says the the county website has a form to report violations.
The bicyclist who was riding in the middle of the night in dark clothing with no lights is facing four charges. Jesse Hibbs attempted to flee from the police until they located the bike on South Madison. Then, Hibbs became aggressive by kicking one of the officers, which led to him being taken to the ground. Central Dispatch informed them that there was a warrant for his arrest. Hibbs was also found to be in possession of a meth pipe.
Madisonville will hold a special event dedicated to honoring and celebrating the selfless service of our veterans and active-duty military. The Hero’s Hour is a quarterly meeting at City Hall that is designed to foster a supportive and collaborative environment for veterans and active military. Participants are encouraged to share their perspectives on various issues. The meeting is this morning at 11.
The missing Owensboro juvenile is in police custody. A phone tip informed the police that she was in the Providence Sureway store. The caller also described her car. The police say she had cut off her ankle monitor and said she initially said she would not go with the police. Assisting in the arrest was the Sheriff’s Office.
The Transportation Cabinet says it’s going to be a busy week with several road projects. In Hopkins, Muhlenberg, and Webster, the workers will be doing mulching, mowing, and ditching. Several locations will also include snow and ice training.

The Madisonville police are reporting the 9-1-1 call that drew them to a residence where a young child greeted them at the door. After a quick search of the West Railroad Street home on Friday evening, the officers heard a noise in a bedroom. Ashleigh Cavanaugh was lying in a bed unresponsive. There was a strong odor of alcohol. Even though she requested that she be taken to jail, Cavanaugh fought the officers as were placing her in cuffs. She is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and with assaulting an officer.
Opening day for the Kentucky Sports Factory is coming in January. In the meantime, the final touches are being made to the building and property on Midtown Boulevard. Here’s Jason Clement of Sports Facilities, the organization that has been hired to manage the venue.
The Hopkins County Tourist and Convention Commission says there’s reason to celebrate. Director Trish Noel says they received 12 Traverse Awards for Excellence in Kentucky Tourism from the Kentucky Travel Industry Association. The awards were presented during the Kentucky Travel Industry Annual Conference in Covington at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center.
