Because of a rainy forecast, there’s a new date for the Madisonville Veterans Parade. It will now be on Sunday, the 17th at 2pm.
The Madisonville Police are reporting a big drug bust on Wednesday morning. Using a search warrant, the local Vice/Narcotic Unit located meth, synthetic drugs, and drug paraphernalia at a residence in the 300 block of Hopson Avenue. They found a 12 gauge shotgun that was owned by a convicted felon, James Youngblood. He’s also charged with trafficking cocaine and meth. At the same location, Sarah Richter, and Donald Hopson, along with a small child were found hiding in a shed. They were arrested on similar drug charges as well as wanton endangerment. Also arrested was convicted felon, Kenneth Morris. he’s charged with possessing a fire arm and synthetic drugs.
The Dawson Springs school district is notifying the public about a threatening statement made by a middle school student on Wednesday. The student said it was a joke. The district says, they appreciate the students that brought the matter to their attention. In a Facebook post, the district stated the student will not be in school for a while.
A Madisonville driver is facing 6 charges. When he stopped Sunday night, he only had one break light and his license plate was not legible. 33 year old, Michael Gamblin, of Nortonville was very nervous as the canine Bane sniffed his vehicle and located drug paraphernalia and meth. He also had a large scale and a large sum of money. Gamblin was transported to jail.
A nonprofit organization that’s building four homes in Earlington for those who lost their homes to the tornados, is about to take on another task. Mayor Albert Jackson says that the Fuller Center for Housing is about to begin a ramp project.
Every year Madisonville has a Veterans Day ceremony. This year its Sunday afternoon at 1pm at the Veterans Memorial on North Main. If the weather is a problem, the event will be moved to the Fiscal Court at 56 North Main. The ceremony will also be streamed on the City of Madisonville Facebook page.

In Dixon, it’s another community road show on the Nickel Tax taking place this evening. It’s at Sebree Elementary at 5:30pm. There will also be informative meetings on Tuesday the 12th, at Providence Elementary and Thursday the 14th, at the Dixon Campus Annex at 5:30pm. The Madisonville man at the center of a disturbance at West Broadway Elementary is being charged with menacing, terroristic threating, and disorderly conduct. The police report states, that by the time officers arrived Timothy Blair had departed but was located a few blocks away. The report also says that people began to leave their homes due to the noise. Blair was transported to the detention center.
The Kentucky Health Oral Coalition says the numbers of dental visits have been declining in the last year. Julie Smith directs the dental services for Cumberland Family medical Center. She suggests that parents should not allow their children to keep Halloween candy in their rooms or have constant access to sugar. According to UK, the commonwealth ranks in the top 10 for both oral cancer rates and the percentage of adults with tooth extractions.
