The Madisonville police say the customer who was screaming at Hardees’ workers on East Center Street is facing three crimes. The Ideal Market nearby had phoned the police about a customer who was shoplifting. Moments later, Kendall Ashby was found to be in possession of a pair of sunglasses and a Twix bar that he did not pay for.
There’s a new contest for Hopkins County students. The Crime Stoppers Hidden Hero Poster Contest is intended to help raise awareness for Crime Stoppers. The winners at the
elementary, middle, and high school levels will receive 100-dollars and have their posters displayed. There’s also a P-S-A contest for video, reel, or TikTok. The overall winner will receive 500-dollars. Entries need to be turned in to the student’s school by Tuesday, the 15th.
A Madisonville agency is an award winner. For the 19th consecutive year, the city’s West Side Wastewater Treatment Plant has received the Education and Labor Cabinet Governor’s Safety and Health Award for achieving over half a million hours of work without experiencing a lost time injury or illness.

Madisonville’s city officials are back from Lexington and the Kentucky League of Cities Conference. Mayor Cotton considers it time well spent.
The November ballot includes two constitutional amendments. The Facebook page of the Hopkins County Clerk’s Office has details. Amendment 1 deals with qualified voters. Amendment 2 would allow the legislature to supply financial support to families choosing to have their children educated outside of the public system. You should also know that a sample ballot is on the Facebook page of the Hopkins County Young Professionals.
Plans are underway to outfit Webster County Sheriff’s Office deputies with body cameras. The W-C-S-O has partnered with Webster County Agency for Substance Abuse Policy to secure the funding. The body cameras are used to gather evidence in the prosecution of drug and alcohol related offenses.
In Hopkinsville, the Pennyrile Area Development District Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program is always seeking volunteers. Volunteers visit residents in any of the 37 facilities across district. This is Residents’ Rights Month. During the Resident Forum, three persons shared how their life in a nursing facility is not just a place to stay, but it’s their home.
Excitement is building at the Madisonville Regional Airport for tomorrow’s 2nd annual Wings Over Western Kentucky Air Show. They say the flying display of modern and historical aircraft will include some new additions. Gates for the free event open at 10. The show starts at 1.
