The Madisonville police are charging two persons with engaging in organized crime. Acting on interviews from paying customers of Total Tranquility Spa and Massage on East Arch Street, an undercover detective made arrangements with more than one of the employees for sexual favors. Next, a search warrant produced a large amount of U-S currency that included bills used by the detective. Arrested on the evening of September 26th were two Madisonville women, 54-year-old Wen Luo (loo-ah), and 56-year-old Guany (gwahn) Jiao (GEE-ahl).
In Hopkins County, early voting will be at the Ballard on East Arch. The days are Thursday, the 31st, Friday, November 1st, and Saturday, November 2nd from 8 to 4.
More communities in the Commonwealth are considering special zoning ordinances for solar field sites that aim to protect landowners, while supporting the shift to renewable energy. Ashley Wilmes with the Kentucky Resources Council says land sold for subdivisions or commercial development is permanently lost, while solar energy systems may be a good interim use of land. She adds, large-scale solar farms aren’t the only path forward. Kentucky ranks 45th nationwide for total installed solar capacity.
The Madisonville Regional Airport is reporting a major improvement just a short time before the Wings Over Western Kentucky airshow. The airport in Anton reports that the ramp and runway exits have been resealed. There was no cost to the city since it was funded by a state grant. The airshow begins on Saturday, October 5th.

Madisonville Community College is reporting that a number of the M-C-C Workforce Solutions’ lineman graduates are in Florida putting their new skills to use. The school says all of these graduates knew from day one that they would be needed to help restore power to areas devastated by severe weather.
In Dixon, the sheriff’s office is looking for the female juvenile who ran away from a substance abuse treatment facility on Friday. 17-year-old Khalea (kuh-LEE-uh) Simpson is 5-7, bi-racial, with several facial piercings. She has brown eyes and shoulder length curly hair. She had a tattoo on her wrist that reads Meme. If you have any information about Khalea Simpson, contact authorities.
The state police say the Webster County inmate who escaped early Saturday morning is back behind bars. 30-year-old Gregory Shane Munsell was captured in the 200 block of of U-S 41-A.
The completion date for the sports complex is inching closer. Mayor Kevin Cotton says most everything is in the final stages.
The Madisonville Police say the customer who started a fire inside a Dollar General is an admitted fire bug. Todd McVay is in the county jail. The incident occurred on Thursday night at the store on Hanson Road. The police say McVay used a mini-torch to burn a shirt he picked up on the shelf. Surveillance video helped the police in their investigation.
