A Madisonville couple with three children is being charged with criminal abuse. When the Department for Community Based Services asked the police to assist them with a home visit on Woodlawn Court, the charges were filed. The 11-year-old had been grounded since he was 5. The child had to stay in his room for hours on end. If he moved, he was denied meals. He weighed just 54 pounds. The police report said the child was reluctant to provide more information due to the fear of punishment. He had not be included in a family meal for 5 years. His brothers were 12 and 7-months. A piece of plywood had been installed the family car to keep the child from having contact with the family. He said he was only allowed to leave his room to go to the bathroom, school, or sometimes to eat. Charged are 35-year-old Chrystal Day and 38-year-old Aaron Day.

Just like the park, the sign at the entrance of Madisonville’s Mahr Park Arboretum on Nebo Road is impressive, and it’s not even completed. The stone structure weighs almost 13 thousand pounds and contains two hand-chiseled capstones. The project will be completed when two waterfalls and landscaping are added.
