The National Weather Service says a complex combination of an upper low in the Mid-South and a tropical system moving northward into the Southeast in the next couple of days will increase rainfall chances.
The Hopkins County Health Department is calling it Save A Life Day. Tomorrow, (On Thursday), there will be a free community Narcan and Naloxone giveaway and resource fair at the Ballard Center at 605 East Arch Street.
The superintendent of Hopkins County Schools is now a board member of the Madisonville-Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation. With 29 years of experience in the district, the board says Amy Smith brings a wealth of knowledge in education and leadership to the board.
The MPD is reporting a drug arrest on South Main on Saturday night. The driver received a written warning for criss-crossing the center line. Passenger Bianca Woodall was charged with 3 drug crimes. K-9 Loki alerted the officers to meth and marijuana, as well as drug paraphernalia.

A new rule to improve road safety will applies to all drivers beginning in January. Kentuckians must complete a vision screening to renew their driver’s license. One option is to visit a driver license regional office and be screened. No appointment is necessary. The other way is to be tested by a medical professional. Still available is the online driver’s license renewal.
The completion date on a Hopkins County bridge is being pushed back. They are now saying that the KY 70, or the Beulah Road bridge over Richland Creek, will not go into service until the first week in November. Water retention issues at the temporary coffer dam has forced the placement of the support beams to be delayed.

Our junior senator says says the greatest threat to our national security is our national debt. Rand Paul is out with a plan that will balance the federal budget within 5 years without cutting anything. He says the Six Penny Plan is a federal budget resolution that will balance on-budget outlays and revenues within five years by cutting six pennies off every dollar projected to be spent in the next five fiscal years. Dr. Paul’s Six Penny Plan has wide support.
