Glenden Dale Dame, Sr., 83 of Hanson joined his Savior on Monday, September 2, 2024, at his home while surrounded by his family. Born November 12, 1940, to the late Thomas and Annalee (Gunn) Dame of Madisonville. Glenden was a veteran of the U.S. Army, he served from 1959 – 1962 in Germany. He worked as a coal miner for AMAX Coal and P&M Mines for 27 years and then he worked as an over-the-road truck driver for 1st Express for 10 years. Church was a very important part of Glenden’s life, he was a founding member of Life Apostolic Church. He enjoyed gospel music, and he liked to feed any and all of the animals near his home. Providing for and spending time with his family brought him great joy and pride throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas “Buddy” Dame, Charles Lee Dame and John Dame; and sister, Shera Cates.
Survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara (Morris) Dame of Hanson; daughters, Angie (Jeff) Hill of Hanson and Misti Dame Hallum of Madisonville; son, Skip (Susan) Dame of Anton; grandchildren, Pastor Dustin (Heather) Lee, Jessica (Octavius) Dotson, India (Paul) Dillon, Caitlyn Dame, Hunter Kittinger, Abel Brown and Destiny Bumpus; sister, Martha Dame of Madisonville; brother, Larry (Janet) Dame of White Plains; sister-in-law, Sharon Dame of West Virginia; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be held Saturday at 2:00pm at Life Apostolic Church in Madisonville with Pastor Dustin Lee and Pastor Brad Giffin officiating. Burial to follow at Grapevine Cemetery with military rites provided by Hopkins County Honor Guard at graveside. Visitation will begin at 11:00am at the church. Pallbearers are Hunter Kittinger, Aarion Dotson, Blake Vaughn, Thomas Eisenhauer, Jeff Dame and Stevie Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Skip Dame, Jeff Hill and Larry Dame.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Life Apostolic Church Expansion Fund in honor and memory of Glenden.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the care team of Hosparus Health for the outstanding care provided to Glenden and the comfort the family felt.
