29MADISONVILLE 0629 The driver of a speeding car that was weaving on I-69 last week at 1:30 in the morning is facing four charges.  So is his passenger.  The K-9 Drax directed the police to marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the Mazda C-X 7 of Luis Hull.  Pills not in proper containers were located throughout the vehicle.  They contained schedule 2 to 4 narcotics.  Hull’s passenger was Jaime Stuteville.

29MADISONVILLE A state highway in Hopkins County is experiencing some blocked sections this week to allow crews to remove debris from the Memorial Day weekend tornado.  On Kentucky 12-20, the closure will be between mile points 4 and 6. That’s from Olney Road to Daylight Road at the old Charleston School.  The hours will be between 7 and 3:30 today (Wednesday). The state says heavy traffic on Kentucky 109 has slowed the effort to remove debris.

28MADISONVILLE 0627 Our local college is receiving a grant to enhance student volunteerism opportunities.  Engage Kentucky Plus will support a new community initiative led by student affairs, and strengthen existing programs.  This includes the GLAD Summer Camp and the Male Mentoring Program.  Engage Kentucky Plus is sponsored by the Kentucky Campus Compact with funding from the AmeriCorps Volunteer Generation Fund.  

27/21Greenville 0702 In Greenville, the fireworks ordinance has been updated.  The police say fireworks are permitted on July 4th, as well as, one day before and one day after the holiday, from 6 to 10 pm.  Today through the 5th, fireworks can be used from 6 until 10 PM.  They suggest water or a fire extinguisher be available.  Persons using fireworks outside of these days and hours will be visited by the police.

29MADISONVILLE 0702 The Madisonville police are investigating a possible fentanyl overdose death.  When they were called to an address on Bean Cemetery Road, the caller thought the victim could be revived. Dead is 24-year-old Christian Crook.  Last month, detectives located Jawan Combs in Mount Carmel-Illinois.  During the interview, Combs admitted that he sold four fentanyl pills to Christian Crook.  Now, Combs is charged with manslaughter and is jailed in Hopkins County.  

34MADISONVILLE 0628 Madisonville has the only flight school in Western Kentucky.  Madisonville Community College President  Dr. Cindy Kelley says the helicopter school in Anton has helped develop that location and the same thing is happening in Greenville for fixed-wing aircraft.

23Webster County 0702 In Dixon, the sheriff’s office has details about a 2-vehicle injury accident on Monday.  The FedEx van being driven by Heather Stocking on Jim Villines Road failed to stop at the intersection of Lisman Mount Myria Road. Injuries were reported in both vehicles, but all are stable.  Two passengers had to be extracted by mechanical means.

26Greenville 0701 In Greenville, the police have a few words to say about 4th of July fireworks.  They say when they’re set off near houses, they often disturb the residents who will end up phoning the police.  The G-P-D requests that you follow the city’s fireworks ordinance.  Fireworks are only permitted two days before and two days after July 4th.  They can only be set off in the evening between 6 and 10.
